What a matte finish is

Matte is the laminate, not a different sticker. The design is printed on the same vinyl as our gloss stickers and sealed under a laminate with a fine, non-reflective surface. Light scatters instead of bouncing back, so there is no bright glare across the design and the sticker has a soft, almost paper-like feel while staying fully waterproof.

When matte is the better choice

Choose matte when the sticker will be looked at under strong light or photographed: product labels on a shelf, stickers on a laptop under office lighting, packaging that customers post online. Without a reflection running across it, every part of the design stays readable from any angle.

Matte also suits designs with muted palettes, lots of white space, fine type or a hand-drawn look, and brands that want an understated, premium feel. If your artwork is all bright, saturated colour and you want it to jump, gloss will make it pop more — matte deliberately calms colours down a little.

Designing for a matte finish

Screens glow and ink does not, and a matte surface makes that difference a little more visible than gloss: deep blacks look slightly softer and very bright colours slightly calmer. We print with a calibrated colour profile and flag anything that will shift noticeably in the proof note.

Keep text at 6 pt or larger and lines at 0.5 pt or thicker at the printed size, keep anything important about an eighth of an inch inside the edge, and save logos on a transparent background so the cut follows the art. If an exact match matters, ask for samples and feel the materials before you order.

Durability, sizes and quantities

Matte stickers carry the same rating as the rest of our range: three to five years outdoors, waterproof, UV resistant, scratch resistant and dishwasher safe once the adhesive has cured.

Pick a preset from 2″ to 5″ or any custom size from 1″ to 36″ per side, as a die cut outline here or in any other shape. Orders start at ten pieces.

Upload PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, AI, EPS or PSD files up to 25 MB — vector is best, a raster file should be 300 DPI at the printed size — and skip the cut line: we draw it from your artwork. Every order gets a free digital proof in your Proof Room showing the exact size, material and cut line. Changes are free and unlimited, and nothing goes on press until you approve it. We print in Itasca, Illinois and hand the parcel to the carrier within 1–3 business days of your approval; standard shipping is free on orders over $100.
