How to Care for Your Custom Stickers So They Last for Years
Our stickers are printed on thick vinyl with a UV laminate, which makes them waterproof, scratch-resistant and dishwasher safe. Most of the “my sticker peeled” stories we hear come down to three things: the surface, the first 24 hours, and cleaning habits. Here is how to get it right.
Start with a clean, smooth surface
Vinyl bonds to smooth, non-porous surfaces: water bottles, laptops, car windows, helmets, notebooks. Wipe the spot with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before you apply. Dust and skin oil are invisible, but they stop the adhesive from making full contact. Textured walls, canvas and unfinished wood are not good candidates — the adhesive only touches the high points.
Give the adhesive 24 hours
The adhesive reaches full strength about a day after application. During that window keep the sticker dry and away from heat. After that, rain, sun and the dishwasher are fine.
Cleaning stickered items
Dishwasher-safe means the print and laminate survive repeated cycles, but the gentler the better: top rack, normal cycle, no heated dry. Hand washing with mild soap is the easiest on the edges. Skip abrasive sponges and solvents such as acetone, which can dull the laminate.
Cars and outdoor use
Our gloss and matte vinyl is rated for outdoor use and will handle car washes once it has cured. Apply to glass or clear-coated paint rather than plastic trim, and avoid pressure-washing the edges at close range.
Storing unused stickers
Keep spare stickers flat, on their backing, out of direct sunlight, at room temperature. A zip bag or envelope keeps dust off the adhesive. Stored this way they stay fresh for a year or more.
Removing a sticker
Warm it with a hair dryer, lift a corner and pull slowly at a low angle. Leftover adhesive wipes away with rubbing alcohol. On painted surfaces, test a small area first.
Follow these steps and your stickers will outlast the water bottle they are on. If one ever fails early, let us know — our refund and returns policy has your back.
